Tirana welcomed young people with and without intellectual disabilities to a Summit dedicated to Youth and Sport for Inclusion in Tirana, which highlighted the talent, courage, and determination of Special Olympics athletes.

Ten delegations of young people from Kosovo, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina were part of the "Shoot for Inclusion” an inclusive athletic tournament as a testimonial of how sports can be a generator of  inclusiveness and engagement for good health, well-being,sustainable development, and integration of persons with limited intellectual abilities in society.

Through the TIRANA UNIFIED Project, young people with and without intellectual disabilities led activities and promoted sports to include people with intellectual disabilities in daily life. Sports activities combined with promotion of culture, cuisine, tradition, and history added a dynamic dimension to the summit.

This Regional Summit was held for the first time in Albania, organized by Special Olympics Albania, under the care of Mayor Tirana, as part of numerous events entitled "Tirana European Youth Capital 2022”, in partnership with UNFPA Albania and other partners.
