UNFPA in Albania strikes to tackle a strategic priority in the health sector: Increasing access to effective health services by reducing financial, geographical and cultural barriers, providing widespread free essential public health services, and articulating a network of services able to ensure continuity of care.
In this framework, UNFPA in partnership with central and local government partners, and NGO partners is making every effort to strengthen and improve quality of health care service delivery and to advance health reform strategies in the country.
Around three hundred health care providers such as family doctors, midwives and nurses from the primary health care level and maternity units as well as community members, in eight regions across the country, were trained on sexual and reproductive health service delivery.
This training programme is accredited by the National Center for Continuous Medical Education with a total of 70 credits (Note: Credits is a points-based assessment system for all medical professionals who should receive a minimum number of credits in order to advance their professional career).
The training was provided by Albania Community Assist (ACA) with support from UNFPA.
