We signed today a Memorandum of Understanding with the Women's Economic Chamber to cooperate for achievement of common goals for Expanding Choices for women, girls, fathers and couples through family-friendly gender-responsive policies in the workplace.
UNFPA is implementing the “Expanding Choices: Gender-Responsive Family Policies for the Private Sector in the Western Balkans and Moldova” implemented by UNFPA and supported by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) with funds from the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC).
This project seeks to create an enabling environment where all women and men have the opportunity to realize their needs and desires to start a family and have as many children as they want, while pursuing their personal and social careers and goals.
To fulfill this mission, UNFPA in Albania aims to establish bridges of cooperation with strategic partners with common goals. We are happy that today we formalized this new partnership, with the Women Economic Chamber as an entity strong enough to give a message of solidarity and engagement and serve as a mechanism to push for more companies and businesses to join the cause, and come up with family-friendly gender responsive policies which will benefit the families and their wellbeing, as well as the businesses through increased satisfaction and profits.
The private sector plays a vital role here; we have seen that, small shifts within business models, daily operations, staff practices or external communications can have huge impact. This new partnership is yet another achievement of high importance which will further support the women economic empowerment and women fair participation in labor market.
